Transitioning Your Wardrobe to Spring

Today Karen is with us on the blog….

You may be as ready for spring as I am. Snow and cold, you enchanted us in December, January, and February, but now we think the time has come for you to take a rest from the flurry of your activity. As the temperature rises (we can only hope!) degree by degree, I get excited about incorporating some  spring into my wardrobe. Here are five ways to help you transition to spring.

1.     Jackets: Layer your outfit with a jacket that will get you through the spring and be able to be worn again in the fall. Try a motorcycle jacket. Black always looks stylish, but now might be the time to add a new color into your wardrobe. Jean jackets also work and pick your style of preference: fitted or boyfriend.

2.     Sneakers and ankle boots: Ankle boots accommodate any season; I love that about them! However, with warmer days, more activity outside, and more walks, I plan to wear sneakers quite often. New Balance, Converse, Nike and many other companies have some fashionable choices for street style sneakers.

3.     Casual dresses and skirts: These are perfect for transitioning from all the past days of leggings and jeans. You can try ivories or florals or brighter colors. A pleated skirt is also versatile and can be dressed up or down. Throw a leather jacket or jean jacket over it and add some ankle boots, or even sneakers, and your outfit is complete.

4.     Light Flannel Shirt: Flannel does not seem to go out of style. Pick a lightweight one, and you can use this to layer over a tee or wear tucked into jeans. Wrap it around your waist to add some dimension to a simple outfit.

5.     Makeup and hair: Try a fresh cut or new highlights or color to welcome spring. Experiment with berry lips (or orange if you are daring!), a white shadow liner, or the perfectly simple natural look.
