One of my favorite aspects of an engagement session is planning the details and location so it is a direct reflection of the couple. Ed and Ashley had already put thought into this before we even met. Both and Ed and Ashley went to Penn State College. In fact, this is where they fell in love. And this is the location they choose for their engagement session. The campus is beautiful and it was so fun to photograph there! Ashley’s younger sister, Abby, was a high-school senior I photographed a few years ago. I loved Abby (and still think she is awesome;). I was so honored when Ashley contacted me and asked if I would photograph her wedding! Because I like to include a little intro on the blog, I emailed Ashley and asked her a few questions about the two of them. Ed and Ashley decided to each answer on their own have it be a surprise for each other when they read the blog today. How sweet is that?!! Making fun choices like this and thinking outside the ‘normal’ a little….truly makes life that much sweeter!
Thank-you Ed and Ashley for being so wonderful. I am honored to be your wedding photographer and cannot wait to be part of your day!
See their slide-show HERE.…it includes “their” song.=)
Let’s start with Ed…
“I love everything about her!!! She is a very motivated, goal orientated, self-driven person. She is always doing things for other people and never expects anything in return. No matter what we are doing, or what situation we find ourselves in, we always find a way to have fun together. She has a great sense of humor, which is very important to me. When I find myself stressed or struggling, she always knows how to make things better. Even the toughest decisions are made easier with a few words of advice from her.”
“Together we love normal….such as shopping, going out to eat, playing tennis together, walks, and going to movies. Every now and then we will go on some sort of trip together…just to get away. Before I met her I really disliked long car rides. But we usually get into some deep conversation abut life or she finds some way to entertain me which is great!! She is pretty tone deaf, but I love to listen to her sing!” =)
“She really does make me a better person. We dream about having four kids and quite a few pets when we get older.” Cool. =)
“Loving her comes effortlessly. She truly is my soul-mate.” – Ed
Ashley ….
“Ed is truly my other half. We just work together! It’s so amazing to feel your love grow for each other each and every day. Even on my bad days, I know he is always there for me. His sense of humor puts a smile on my face and nothing feels better than being wrapped in his arms.”
“Ed and I went to high school together and had mutual friends…but never dated. We started dating during my junior year and his senior year at Penn State. It kind of just happened! It wasn’t long after we started dating that I knew he was the person I wanted to marry some sweet day.” =)
“We spend most days of the week apart because of our jobs….which makes our time together even more precious and valued. I cherish every minute I get to spend with him. “
“Our quote for OUR song is …you and me together we can do anything, baby!
I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together!”
Ed and Ashley had just a few requests…one of them was a photo with the fountain in the Arboretum.
Side note…It was the first time I was on this campus and I loved it. I arrived early and walked around to get a feel of the HUGE campus. It was a weekday and their were kids everywhere. I found myself watching people and wondering about their stories…who were they, where did they come from, and where were they hoping to go? Did they feel lost being thrust onto this big campus with thousands and thousands all there ‘preparing’ for life? Or were they loving every minute? Maybe both. It was inspiring. I was reminded again how small I am and how BIG the world is.
