I like simplicity. Simplicity allows my brain to rest. And honestly, I do not have enough of energy for complicated. (;. Each year I like to choose a gift packaging theme. This way I do not have rolls of mismatched wrapping paper. I decide only once what paper and ribbon to use. I get the supplies I need for one ‘look’, remind myself to keep it simple and quick, and then let my brain be creative. So fun and I love it. Little projects like this is like a breath of fresh air for my brain. Since much of my creativity is done on camera and behind a computer screen, I love using my hands to cut, snip, and glue. A pretty packaged gift makes the experience of receiving and giving a gift a little extra special. However, the packaging needs to be inexpensive and simple. Promise Tangeman always inspires me. This time she inspired me to use text as an element of the packaging.
Neutrals, burlap, twine are hot items right now. I love it. I love the softness, warmth, and organic vibe. I already had a huge roll of brown Kraft paper and plenty of mismatched twine. All I needed was text paper. I picked up an old dictionary at Salvation Army for a dollar and I was ready to roll. I used our Alphabet magnet letters we have on the fridge for text templates. I was missing a few letters…most likely they are hidden under the fridge. The missing letters I free handed. A little imperfection is not noticed here. =)
On another note, yesterday the fair shoot I did with Maddie was featured on Seniorologie. Seniorologie is an inspirational blog dedicated to the study of senior portrait photography. Senior photographers from all over the country are featured here. Leslie from Seniorologie did a small interview with me where we talked about the how and why of this shoot and a little about my biz. Check it out HERE.
And last, but certainly not least….Rachel and John got married! Any bride that wears shoes this fantastic? Is fantastic. Check back tomorrow for the full post.
Now, I am off to finish up my Christmas shopping. A little last minute. Considering I have quite a bit to finish up. But I really do love the hustle and bustle in the stores at this time of the year. =)
