How to keep dry skin away when the snowflakes are flying!
KATHLEEN:
This winter has been especially brutal on the skin – not just because of the extra cold weather, but my husband and I just moved from a house where we used a dehumidifier all winter to an apartment with forced air heating. My skin has been drier than a desert and none of my old tricks have worked. So…I hunted down some new products and I’m really excited about the results. Organic shea butter and extra virgin coconut oil are my new go-to products. Plus they smell great!
KAREN:
For the past couple of years, my go-to moisturizer for the winter has been coconut oil. It’s natural and relatively cheap compared to many moisturizers. Every day, I use it on my face and body. At night, I also put apply it to my face before going to bed. Don’t worry; it won’t cause pimples! I buy a big tub of it and then put some in a small jar to have on hand in the bathroom. I also use it on my daughter after each bath. If you’re looking to save some money while also having soft skin, I highly recommend trying coconut oil. If you have more money to spend on a good moisturizer, I absolutely love Dr. Haushka’s Moisturizing Face Cream. It’s heavenly!
GRACE:
This winter I have found a moisturizer that works wonders on my skin. Finally, I don’t have to worry about being extra dry. The moisturizer that I use is by Mario Badescu. After washing my face in the morning I follow with the Cellufirm Moisturizer. At night after washing my face I put on the Seaweed Night Cream. I have found that this combo is great for the extra cold and dry months. For the rest of my body I use Burt’s Bees Lemon and Vitamin E Bath and Body Oil, after I shower. This smells great and I feel that my body drinks it up!
CHAR:
I use, you guessed it…coconut oil. We had no idea so many of us used coconut oil until we chatted about it for this post. The smell is wonderful, it is inexpensive, and works really well too. I always apply it right before I put on makeup for a smooth easy makeup application.
Ooooh winter time. Now….if we could just have some warm sunshine again!
