A word of the year is a theme or concept a person intends to live out of for the coming year. Goals, day to day life, attitude, perspective….all will hopefully align itself with our word of the year. It should be something we believe in…something that we want to start living out of…believing that good will come from it.
This is the first year I personally have a word of the year. My word seemed to drop itself right into my heart when I wasn’t even looking for it and I couldn’t ignore it. I am excited to get to know my word a bit more… see the potential wrapped up in it. Today our team is sharing our words of the year with you. If you have not already, we hope this will inspire you to choose one of your own.

Anna: INTENTIONALITY…I want to live this year of my life on purpose. Not allowing life to just happen to me but really owning it – making intentional decisions and living with a clear vision in my marriage, my home, my work, my mothering and my relationship with God and myself.
Claire: My word of the year (its difficult to pick just one!) is ENCOUNTER. I want to not just live in the awesome experiences I’ve had with God in the past. This year I want to have brand new supernatural encounters with His presence that radically deepen my faith in and love for Him.
Kathleen: PREPARATION…nearly every aspect of my life this coming year is colored with preparation for the years to come. ‘Before anything else, preparation is the key to success’ – Alexander G. Bell
Grace: The word that has been in my heart and my head for 2015 is DISCIPLINE. This word doesn’t bring a lot of fussy warm feelings to most, and I actually have never liked this word! This year it really excites me for some reason. I have an anticipation for what will follow the discipline. “Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.” -Abraham Lincoln
Char: EASE. That’s my word. Not sitting in the shade sipping ice tea kind of ease. But more like…..trusting my gut instead of self doubt. Taking time to refuel instead of sacrificing rest. Living with intentionality but not control. As nice as the word ‘ease’ may sound, I know it is going to take a whole lot of discipline (and probably some angst!) for me to implement. But if I can actually do it, I am thinking more will be accomplished with less energy. And like the sound of that.
Andrea: Andrea’s word is GRATITUDE….we are adding it in for her. She is not available this week for a pretty big reason and that is exactly why her word if gratitude. More on that later.:)
I love this set of words. They are all so good. I am anticipating how these will unfold for each of us this year. I expect beauty to be result of the hard work that goes into making these words part of real life.
