INSPIRATION…IT COMES IN ALL FORMS.

Here at the studio we talk quite a bit about inspiration. How to stay inspired. What inspires. The choice of living life allowing time for inspiration. But you know what? Inspiration comes in ALL forms. In the smallest ways…all around us. Sometimes all we need to do is….get our eyes of OURSELVES…and inspiration is right there. That is the beauty and mystery of inspiration. Today ANNA is joining us here on the blog telling us about something that has been inspiring her and ALL of us here on the team…

What a gift children are in our lives! They challenge us, motivate us, entertain us, keep us on our toes, give us purpose and inspire us. Lately, my niece, Abigail, has been a source of inspiration to me. She’s gotten it in her heart to help people in need and is taking action in a pretty bold way. I thought I’d take the opportunity to introduce her to you, let you hear about what she is doing and even invite you to be a part if it moves your heart. The following photos of Abbie and is an interview that I had with her just a couple of days ago.

Abigail, I’ve heard about a project you started recently to help the poor and I want our readers to learn more about it, but first, let’s give them a chance to get to know you a little.

How old are you?

I’m eight years old.

Do you have any siblings?

I have a six year old sister, Emma, a three year old sister, Libby, and a one year old brother, Marshall.

What would you like to become when you grow up?

A ballerina because I just love dancing.

In your life do you have a hero? Someone you look up to?

Joan of Arc because she wasn’t the walk-all-over-me type and she wasn’t the kind that was like this is how things are now, it has to stay this way. It’s like she actually, you know, changed it. And people were always saying that girls shouldn’t do what boys did, but she still did it.

What is your favorite past time?

Reading. I love adventure and mystery books.

We hear that you have a dream for this year and we’d like to know what exactly it is.

I want to raise $1500 by Christmas to buy fresh water wells, food for babies, baby chicks and stuff like that.

Who are you buying these things for?

I’m raising it so that SAMARITAN’S PURSE can give it to people in need and tell them about Jesus.

Where are these people located?

Other countries. Pretty much anywhere it’s needed, just not America.

How did you choose which projects you wanted to support with the money you raise? (Samaritan’s Purse has a wide variety of projects to choose from in their catalogs).

I wanted to do everything but then I added up the cost and couldn’t do it all so I had to minus the stuff that was less important. I wanted to meet people’s most basic needs.

What inspired you to do this?

Last year at Christmas, Daddy gave all of us some money and then we got a catalog and we each decided which stuff that we should buy to help poor people. Then when Marshall was born this last year and I heard that babies were actually starving to death every day, I didn’t want to imagine him starving to death. That’s when I decided to actually DO something about it and not just sit around and think about it. I realized that I could actually ask people to help me raise money.

Your goal is $1500. What have you done to raise the money and how much have you raised so far?

I wrote letters to people and sent them with bookmarks that I had made and a slip of paper telling them how to give money and then people decide if they want to give anything. I’ve gotten $405 so far.

If our readers want to get involved, what should they do?

They can send a check made out to Samaritan’s Purse to Char Studio. My aunt will make sure I get the check and then I will add it up and say what it will go for and then send it in with the rest of the money to Samaritan’s Purse.

Well, thank you, Abbie, for telling us a little about yourself and about your big goal for this year. We hope that you are able to raise all of the money and that it will be used to change lives in different parts of the world!
