GRACE’S INTERN // JESSE

Today Grace is taking over….

I am thrilled to introduce Jesse, my intern, to you! I can only imagine how a parent feels to introduce their child to the world, so proud! I kind of feel that way introducing Jesse to you. Not that I feel like a mother to her, but I am just honored to know her. I am amazed that she would want to work by my side this summer. She is a lovely person that brings a lot to the world. On top of her excellent natural style and execution she is the sweetest person with a really big heart. I love her perspective on life and on work. She truly lives here art with passion and an authenticity like no one I know. I love learning from her and being excited about the same things in life. She always brings a fresh twist to the styling around the studio. Although this summer is flying by and our time together is soon coming to an end, I am beyond excited for what is to come for this girl! It is my pleasure to introduce this young lady to you!

Jesse is is telling is a little about herself….

Dreams don’t work unless you do. That has been my thought process throughout these last few years. I’m not going to wake up one day and have a fairy godmother granting my every wish. At least I don’t think they have fairy godmothers in the fashion industry.

Fashion really has always sparked my interest since I was a little girl. When I was younger, I use to have journals filled with polka dot dresses and pinstriped pants. My passion for design didn’t follow me into my later years but styling has definitely stuck. Although I grew up on a Christmas tree farm in a small town, my family has always been very supportive of my passion, especially my mom. Throughout my summers in high school, I took a class at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City as well as a semester at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. I remember the last day of class at the Fashion Institute, my professor asked me to come to his desk to talk about my future. He told me that he wanted to stay in touch to see where my talent and passion took me. I remember instead of thanking him, I cried tears of pure joy. It was that moment of assurance that I knew this is where I belong.

My senior year I met Char and Grace for senior photos. I had such a great time and never wanted my two hour session to end. I stayed in contact and actually modeled as a bride for a mock wedding workshop. Throughout my freshmen year at college, I talked to Grace about working together for the summer and today I am her intern! I assist styling senior photo shoots as well as small things around the studio. I don’t want this summer to end but this upcoming fall I will be moving to New York City and attending the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising as well as the Fashion Institute of Technology in the spring. I aspire to be happy with any job after school but I hope it includes creative people fascinated by fashion, art and all of the world’s beauty.
