OUR TEAM’S SUMMER READS

Summer means a hammock under a tree, glass of icetea, and a good book. Well, at least I like to think it does!! But truly, I do love to read and learn while I am doing so. And finding a few minutes to grab my beach chair and sunglasses, find a patch of sun in our backyard, and read a chapter in a good book is one of my favorite ways to relax. Today we are chatting just a bit about what we have been reading this summer…

Book

I haven’t had a lot of time to read this summer! I always have a list of books that I want to get my hands on but hardly ever get to. One book that I still need to read is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Hopefully I will find time to read a little more! – Grace

I’ve been reading Organized Simplicity in an attempt to weed out the unnecessary things cluttering up my life, my home and my time. My goal is to live an intentionally simple life with great purpose and that’s what this book is all about. I highly recommend it! – Anna

I am ever-obsessed with food and understanding how it affects our bodies. This book is a super easy read (although the material is certainly not light!) and while I am now thoroughly disillusioned with the American food industry…I am glad I read it. Sometimes it’s hard to know what to do with information like this, but I think awareness is the first step. – Kathleen

I just started reading Gaining Ground: A Story of Farmers’ Markets, Local Food, and Saving the Family Farm. I’m a magnet for anything farming related. After staying at the family’s bed and breakfast years ago, I wanted to learn more about the story behind this place and the son, who upon graduating from William and Mary, dedicated his future to toiling on his family’s 400 acres of land determined to reap a profit. – Karen

Clout is a book that touches on issues close to who we are as a person and who we will become. Things such as comparison, fear, insecurity, the need to control, living out of a mindset of scarcity. It is things we KNOW…but we don’t know….if you know what I mean. I am telling ya…if you read this book with an openness to truly HEAR, it has the potential to shake you up, flip you around….AND leave you a whole lot better because of it. Not a difficult read…but lotta powerful content. If you like getting to the heart of things, check it out. It is SURE to challenge you. – Char
