BUILDING YOUR SUMMER WARDROBE

Making smart choices is key to creating a good wardrobe! Today our stylists are sharing some wisdom on creating a summer wardrobe and they will take it from here….

One of the best parts about getting dressed in the summer is that you don’t need to overdo it. Choose to invest in a few key pieces that will be perfect for mixing and matching all season. Here are a few of our favorite wardrobe essentials to carry you through summer and into the fall:

summer style-1

1. Neutral Tank Tops
Start your summer wardrobe with the basics. Nothing is easier to wear than a flowing tank in a neutral color. Tanks are perfect to dress up or down, and can be layered to last into fall. Invest in the colors that you love to wear, and you’ll never be out of options!

2. Shorts
When it comes to shorts, there are plenty of options for every style. Pick a casual pair, and a dressy pair so you are prepared for every event. Casual shorts are perfect for hot days, trips to the pool, or running errands. They can be dressed up with a statement necklace or gladiator sandals. Dressy dressy shorts are perfect for a night out paired with wedge sandals, or toned down with a simple tee.

3. Midi or Maxi Skirt
Skirts are one of the best ways to elevate your look for summer without trying too hard. Midi and maxi lengths are not only flattering, but also right on trend for this season. Pair a skirt with a simple chambray shirt for a casual, yet put together look for day.

4. Casual Dress or Tunic
The best thing in summer dressing is the ease of throwing on one piece and going. T-shirt dresses, linen shifts, and tunics work perfectly! T-shirt dresses pack perfectly for vacation without wrinkling, and even look cute with Converse sneakers! Tunics or shift dresses are ideal for wearing as a beach cover up and dressed up for dinner.

5. Maxi Dress
If you’re a fan of the maxi skirt, then you’ll want to get a maxi dress as well! Maxi dresses are the ultimate formal option for summer, and look effortlessly glamorous. Wear them with slip-on sandals for brunch and shopping, and then change into strappy heels and statement jewelry for a night out!

6. Kimono or Light Jacket
The best way to layer your look in the heat is to stick to lightweight but versatile options. Summer evenings can get chilly, and layers always make an outfit look more intentional. Choose a lightweight kimono in a floral or fun color to dress up the neutrals in your wardrobe. For outerwear, invest in a short linen trench, lightweight army cargo jacket, or denim jacket. These are pieces that look great with sundresses, but also will last into the beginning of fall with denim and heavier layers!

7. Swimsuit
Swimsuits may seem like a no-brainer for some, but with so many options it can be hard to choose! This season, flattering coverage is right on trend. Pick a high waist bottom, one piece, or tasteful cut-outs. If you’re a big swimmer, pick a few in your favorite styles. If you absolutely love bikinis, select styles and prints that you can mix to stretch your wardrobe further!

8. Sandals
Sandals are a girl’s best friend this time of year, and your feet will thank you if you choose comfortable and stylish shoes! Sandals are having a big moment right now, from Birkenstock’s to gladiators. There are no shortage of options to fit your personal style! As a general rule of thumb, save the flip flops for the beach only. Choose a casual sandal and a dressy sandal for this season, and you can wear them every day.

9. Sun Accessories
Last, but certainly not least are the important sun accessories! Protecting your skin is way more fashionable than a bright red sunburn. Invest in a wide brim sun hat and sunglasses, and your skin will thank you!

We hope this helps you and pull together your summer wardrobe!
