WHY WE NEED OTHERS TO GROW A BUSINESS

Research shows that you will be more likely to reach your goals with others.

I have experienced this incredibly much myself and have heard clients say it again and again. We need others to help us grow. It is next to impossible to take that step, think outside the box, be encouraged, and take a smart risk when we are doing it all alone. Maybe it’s human nature or simply the way we are created – the chemistry that comes when working with others is something that cannot be created without others.

In fact, working with others is something people around the world desire so much there are amazing companies whose business model is built on our desire to work together. Check this out:

Wikepedia: It is the sixth most visited website in the world and has become the starting point for all general knowledge. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia, written collaboratively by the people who use it. Many people are constantly improving Wikipedia, making thousands of changes per hour.

Airbnb: A website for people to list, find, and rent lodging. It all started in 2008 when two roommates could not afford the rent for their loft in San Francisco. They made their living room into a bed and breakfast, accommodating three guests on air mattresses and providing homemade breakfast. Today It has over 1,000,000 listings in 34,000 cities and 190 countries. Airbnb has expanded from air beds to entire homes, apartments, castles, boats, manors, tree houses, tipis, igloos, and private islands.

Kickstarter: Kickstarter global crowdfunding platform focused on creativity. Launched in 2009; It has received more than $1.9 billion in pledges from 9 million backers to fund 257,000 creative projects. A video game once finished with over $3 million pledged. This was the first time Kickstarter raised over a million dollars in pledges in a single day.

Uber: An online transportation company. It operates the Uber app that allows people with smartphones to submit a trip request which is then given to Uber drivers who use their own cars. Uber was founded by in 2009. By 2015, Uber was estimated to be worth $62 billion.

How’s that for some inspiration?!

The synergy created by working with others is beautiful. And yep, hard sometimes too.

It is easy to think we should be able to create and build on our strength and determination. We assume those we look up to somehow have the skills and knowledge all within themselves. We feel like something is wrong with us when we feel inadequate. But truth is, fulfillment and good things happen when we embrace how much we need others!

So what does working with others look like?

Asking for help.

Reaching out and offering a hand.

Sending that email.

Showing up.

Going to that event

Introducing ourself.

Being willing to invest into something that may or may not work out.

Asking for advice.

Doing the inviting.

It really can be simple.

In the end, our world will be bigger, better, and so much fuller when we are linking arms with those around you.

So this weekend, let’s find a way to do life (and business) with others. Shall we?
