WHEN WE GOT MARRIED…

Yikes!

We all agreed, sharing wedding day photos feels a bit VULNERABLE. As Kathleen put it….some of us get better with age. :) Yep, we almost decided it was a really bad idea…then we were like, hey…why not? So here is when we got married….way back when. And what we are doing in 2014 for lovers day.

With a newborn babe, we will celebrate 2014 valentine’s night  in…as we have for the past number of years. Here’s the plan…no afternoon nap for the three year old, all the boys in bed by 8pm, fire popping in the wood stove, little conversation over something good to sip, a movie, a nice foot rub….and I will be a happy camper. Oh yeah, and there has been talk that maybe a jacket I have had my eye on will make it’s way into valentine’s day. So the plan is simple, easy, and pretty cost effective too (unless the jacket happens:).

I look forward to Valentine’s Day because it makes the cold, drab month of February a bit more exciting. My husband and I keep our celebration rather simple. We will have dinner together at home after Elsa goes to bed and most likely continue our winter ping pong tournament. We are currently 2-2 and very competitive with each other. This year, I am thinking of making us these FISH TACOS with avocado crema. Kyle will pick us up GOOD EATZ’S  gluten-free vanilla cake with vanilla frosting for dessert. They made our wedding cake and any special occasion isn’t complete without it. We also will give each other one gift, and Kyle will not give me roses. That is one flower I really don’t like.

Dema and I don’t usually celebrate Valentine’s Day. He thinks it’s too commercial and doesn’t like being told when to be romantic. He thinks romance should be spontaneous and from the heart. I heartily agree (although in all honestly, I wouldn’t mind a bouquet of flowers, a nice dinner out and my favorite perfume – just in case he’s reading this post).

KATHLEEN

My husband and I love cooking together, although it doesn’t happen as often as we like, so this year for Valentine’s Day we’ll spend a cozy evening together in the kitchen. Our kitchen is just big enough for the two of us, so I’m not kidding when I say cozy. There’s something about cooking together that makes us dream and laugh, and spend hours talking about nothing much at all. The menu we came up with is a little eclectic, but I’m excited to try some new things. We’ll start with a SPRING ROLL appetizer and a glass of wine, toasting to life and living it. My husband makes a killer steak, and thanks to the cow we raised last year, we have plenty of it, so he’ll make STEAK FINGERS and I’ll make one of my specialty SALADS and together we’ll be brave and for the first time attempt RAVIOLI. We taste test the entire time we’re cooking, so we’ll be half full by the time we sit down to candles and plates of food and a PANNA COTTA finish.

GRACE:

I love Valentines Day! An excuse to get dressed up and celebrate the person that I like the most! The past couple years Valentines day hasn’t been that much pressure and I would like to keep it that way. We always have a good time and really enjoy each others company over a nice meal and a good drink. I love going out to dinner and experiencing new restaurants. Jeremy has gone through a couple not so good gifts over the years, like red velvet footy pajamas. So, if there are any gifts that we give they are funny ones. This year we are pretty consumed with painting and moving (we bought a house), so a nice dinner out somewhere is what we will probably do. Last year we went to MAISON, in Lancaster and it was fabulous. I will let Jeremy decide the place this year. He is quite the romantic so I am never worried that he won’t do something special!

How will you celebrate Valentines day this year???

Love this little peek into the wedding day of each one of you! Thanks for being vulnerable! This year my in-laws are coming for a visit from out of state and arriving on Valentines Day. So I’m planning a nice dinner at home for all of us with some Valentine’s Day themed decor.
