The beauty of this coming season becomes clear in the crisp morning air, and bright changing leaves. It’s a season for new flavors, textures, sensations, and colors. It’s the best of all things warm and cozy, and new beginnings for those headed back to school (or sending their kids off). Autumn brings about new routines, styles, and a chance to restart your personal fashion. Here are a few of the things that we love about fall style, and pieces to build your wardrobe for this time of year!

1. Boots

For fall, shoes are top of the list for investment pieces. Stash your dirty sandals you’ve been living in all summer, and make a switch to boots. Ankle boots are the best way to transition your closet throughout the year, as they can be worn with sundresses and jeans alike. If you want to keep it simple, stick to a pair of flat classic leather chelsea boots. If you love boots and want to splurge, try a tall riding boot, flat casual booties, and a heeled bootie for dressy occasions.

Don’t forget to grab some leather protector to keep your shoes looking great the entire season! Liz will take it from here….

2015-09-08_00032. Texture

While summer is all about light, breezy clothing, fall is a chance to wrap up in cozy layers. The key to layering and creating an interesting wardrobe during fall is to play with texture. Texture could be anything from an interesting chunky knit sweater, to fur, or to a cozy, oversized boucle coat. Adding texture to the basics in your wardrobe will create dimension and interest to make your ordinary clothes feel new.

3. Leather

Leather, or faux leather, is one of the materials I can’t live without during the cold months. Leather is timeless and well worth the investment to have a few pieces that will last year after year. Try a classic leather handbag to carry this season, an edgy moto jacket, or leather pants. They pair perfectly with basics, can be dressed up, or worn to the grocery store and always look fashion forward. This season, suede look leather is what’s on trend. If you love leather, try a few pieces in camel colored suede and 70’s inspired silhouettes.

4. Color

Dressing for this coming season is all about new colors. Start replacing your bright summer shades with deeper saturated hues. My fall wardrobe is built on shades of maroon, camel, mustard, and navy. Find colors you love, and mix and match with classic neutrals to get the most out of your wardrobe.

5. Key Accessories

The last key essentials on my list for fall are a few good accessories. Hats can really make an outfit look complete, and are perfect for covering up dry, cold weather hair. This season, ponchos, capes, and coatigans are perfectly on trend and will keep you warm! You can’t go wrong with a few good scarves either.
